Pregnancy Weeks 17 -19

Posted by Andria at 1:21 PM 0 comments
I'm finding my days are so filled that they're easily turning into weeks! I shouldn't be surprised since October is one of our busiest months as a family. We have done SO much! I'm technically 20 weeks as I write this post but I'll just catch you up on weeks 17 through 19.

Week 17 marked the start of round ligament pain (oh joy). Ya know, sharp pain that pregnant women commonly feel in the lower abdomen due to stretching. In my case it's been sharp and stabby. I honestly thought I'd feel it sooner but, either way it's been well, "interesting". Still tired, still nauseous every once in a while and though the belly's not "huge", I'm starting to feel VERY pregnant. It's just incredible how quickly my body's changed in the past month. Hip pain hasn't been as bad but still enough to make me waddle. You'd think I was nine months along by the way I walk lol! At 19 weeks we had our official ultrasound and NO we did not find out the sex. We're just one of those crazy couples who really likes to be surprised at the end. It was still amazing getting to see the baby. Lately my newest symptom is indigestion. What I mean by that is it feels like my food is sitting in my throat or it feels like my food wants to come back up when I eat. Not very glamorous! I guess its just due to the fact that baby's getting bigger and putting a lot more pressure on my stomach. I did not experience this with my first so... Yeah.. Other than all that crazy stuff, I'm still in awe of this whole thing. Wondering who this baby is and what this baby will look like. I'm already so anxious to hold this baby in my arms!

Our focus for the next few weeks will be coming up with names. For some reason we just never really thought about it much until recently and we're both stumped. Hopefully we'll be able to narrow it down to a few girl names and a few boy names before long. If anyone has suggestions let me know!

PS- Have a wonderful Halloween everyone!

Cravings- Jello, cheery pie and tomato soup. I ate tomato soup for three days straight.

Weight Gain- Stepped on the scale today and I have FINALLY at 20 weeks pregnant gained three whole lbs! I'm currently 118lbs. Trust me, I'm not complaining ;)

Movement?- Oh yes!

Nesting- I'm sad to say there has been zero nesting as of yet. Just normal every day chores but no real nesting. I just haven't had enough energy.

Baby Buys This Week- Nothing this week for the baby but, I did get some new outfits for myself.

Totally Loving- The way Aizlynn talks to my belly. It's so cute!

Not So Much- Hip pain and now this round ligament pain and STILL having the occasional wave of nausea.

Looking Forward To- Really nesting and choosing some names.

Pumpkin Pie White Hot Chocolate!

Posted by Andria at 2:50 PM 0 comments

So last week I was doing some Fall "pinning" and I came across an amazing looking little treat that I just HAD to try. It's called Pumpkin Pie White Hot Chocolate. I mean, just the name alone sounds delicious! That night I was just in the mood for something warm, sweet and comforting and this tasty Fall drink seemed like it would definitely hit the spot. It was SO easy to make and we all enjoyed it immensely!

Here's what you'll need:

3 cups whole milk
1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 ounces white chocolate (chopped) - I used white Hershey's Bliss & it was awesome!
pinch salt

And here's what you do:

1. Heat the milk, pumpkin puree, and spices in a sauce pan until it just starts to simmer and remove form heat.
2. Add the chocolate and stir until it has melted.
3. Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream and garnish with cinnamon.

I'll be honest, I didn't measure a thing. I added all the spices according to my taste and it worked out perfectly.

Alright so now is the time to get to the store and buy what you'll need as a recipe this good CANNOT wait! An extra tip- As you enjoy this, make sure to curl up on the couch wrapped in a blanket with your honey next to you and sip slowly ;)

A drink this good deserves to be sipped from pretty glasses like this one.

Pregnancy Week16

Posted by Andria at 7:49 PM 2 comments
So we're continuing to move right along and I do believe I've popped out even more this past week! Lately I've done a ton of worrying about what needs to get done but, my lack of energy causes me to make NO moves. It kinda feels like I'm trapped in my lethargic body while my mind races. Wasn't I supposed to start getting a little more energy by now!? I'll just hold on to hope that any week now it will hit me and when it does I definitely plan on doing some serious nesting! I have SO many ideas.

I also had my monthly appointment with my midwife recently. So far baby's heart rate sill sounds perfect at about 160 bpm. Despite people telling my that I still hardly look pregnant, my belly's actually measuring right on schedule. During my pregnancy with Aizlynn I measured a week behind the whole time so this one's already different. My hips have been a major issue since around 9 weeks so my midwife has recommended a great chiropractor who treats pregnant women. I'm praying it will help some. I still haven't gained any weight and in fact I've lost another pound putting me at 115 lbs. I'm not really worried about it though. My appetite's slowly starting to get better and the nausea's not as bad so I'm sure I'll starting to gain some weight soon.

I've been doing some more shopping for maternity clothes which I love doing! Well, some aren't really "maternity" but they'll definitely work and grow with my belly. So far I've got a pretty cute wardrobe building up and my main focus lately has been getting things for winter. My next purchase won't be for the belly however, just for the love of shoes! I'm getting some fab boots and I can't wait. I have a secret obsession with boots ;)

16 weeks!

Pregnancy Weeks 14/15: A Belly Has Bloomed!

Posted by Andria at 10:22 PM 2 comments
The past couple weeks has been pretty eventful. We have told all of the family about our impending little one which now has the whole family buzzing. Strangely, it's been almost an odd thing having to get used to all the sudden attention I've been receiving. I realize that it's probably due to the fact that this has been mine and Jeff's little secret for so long. Now that everyone knows it's been this crazy sort of all at once flood of questions, phone calls and yes even belly rubs. I don't mind it at all though, it's just taken some getting used to.

Telling Aizlynn...
The most important person who knows now is our little girl Aizlynn. Getting to tell her was so awesome yet so nerve wracking. Pesky thoughts crept in that the moment I told her would be the moment something would go wrong and then her little heart would be broken again. On the other hand I asked myself "What are you gonna do- tell her when your belly's huge and have no other choice?!" I felt we had waited a reasonable amount of time and she is SO thrilled about being a big sister. We took her out to eat, presented her with a box that had her "Best Big Sister" shirt in it, had her open it and read it and the look on her face was priceless!

Hello baby...
As for pregnancy and baby info, the last couple weeks have brought on some new and wonderful things. Ok also some not so wonderful things but, I'll stick with the warm and fuzzy. At exactly 15 weeks we got our first official kick and those tiny kicks have been ever present since! Yes I know its early but, its true! Baby kicks most often when I'm laying down so it's the last thing I feel when I go to sleep and the first thing I fell when I wake up. It's been beautiful.

Also on the day I turned 15 weeks we went to a baby expo the was held locally in Orlando. To our surprise one of the venders there was giving out free two minute ultrasounds! The line was more than and hour wait but, we just couldn't pass it up. I was SO nervous when my turn came. I just didn't want to hear that something could be wrong but when the tech placed that machine on my belly, the most precious and perfect image instantly appeared. A perfectly formed, bouncy, wriggly baby. I lost it. I wasn't expecting to, not to that severity but, I did. The poor girl performing the ultrasound was handing me tissues left and right and I kept apologizing for crying lol! I guess I was just overcome by a mixture of love, relief and some hardcore pregnancy hormones! Although we will get a "real" ultrasound done soon, I'm so glad we got to see our baby. I really needed it.

Hello bump...
I knew this was coming soon and I knew it would happen almost over night. The belly has definitely popped out! I'm still not obviously pregnant to the general public. Atleast not to the point where someone would risk coming up to me and asking my due date but, it's an official baby bump now. Small enough to go unnoticed by strangers but, big enough (& low enough) to now be hugged by the stretchy bands of maternity pants. My jeans are definitely a no go at this point. I'm loving my little preggo pouch. It's cute and it's mine!

I included my week 14 pic so you can easily compare!
