"Step2 Review & Giveaway" (Closed)

Posted by Andria at 6:59 PM 36 comments

We've had to do some adjustments and corrections on this giveaway. I apologize and thank you for your patience and understanding :)

When it comes to high quality and super fun children's toys, Step2 stands out above many companies. Just seeing the incredible selection of outdoor play, sand and water, creative play and other products on their site makes me wish I were a child again! With so many children unfortunately being raised on too much T.V and video games, I absolutely love that so many of Step2's products promote and encourage hands on play and using one's imagination. I also love how they simplify your shopping experience by categorizing their toys making it easy to shop for your infant up to your school-aged child.

I was so excited when Step2 gave me the opportunity to review their Panda Climber. The Panda Climber is an All-in-one activity gym that features climbing, hiding, crawling and sliding. Now my six year old is a little to big for it however, I knew the perfect little person to test it out on. My gorgeous two year old God Son Jordan. My husband and I went to his home and assembled it in their yard. It definitely takes at least two people and a bit of strength but all in all it wasn't terribly difficult to put together and was fully assembled in about thirty minutes. It really is adorable and I love the fun, vibrant colors.

Right away little Jordan was having a blast climbing, sliding, and crawling through the perfectly sized little tunnel that runs underneath. My daughter although to big in my opinion was so intrigued that she couldn't help but join in on the fun. It was really cute to watch. As I witnessed this energetic little guy play all over it, I really appreciated that the Large platform level is designed with a safe rail that encloses the climber for added safety. We all know safety is a MUST when it comes to children's products!

Step2 has decided to partner up with Lipstick & Lullabies and give one lucky reader the opportunity to win a Fun-Fold Jr. Slide!

"Ecover Natural Cleaning Products Review & Giveaway" (closed)

Posted by Andria at 6:56 PM 19 comments

I don't know about you but, I've been delving hard into "spring cleaning" around this house. There was even a point where I temporarily made everything worse (ever done that?) by filling my dining room with bags of old clothes and stuff we didn't need anymore. Once I got all that taken care of it was time to really get into the dirty work!

Being pregnant, I was thrilled when Ecover sent me their Bathroom Cleaner to review because I knew it would be way safer and even if I weren't pregnant, it's always been my belief that chemical cleaning products should be kept to a minimum. In fact, if you could avoid them all together, even better!

I was just happy that I could try a product that would get rid soap scum and bathroom dirt, would get the job done, leave my bathroom fresh and clean and of course is natural. Here's the thing; It completely exceeded my expectations! I couldn't believe how quickly and easily the soap scum and grime was lifted. I did leave the it on for a good ten minutes but once I came back to it, I hardly hard to scrub or use force. One thing they don't really mention is that it works fantastic on mirrors too (something I discovered by accident). It left no residue on my mirrors! In the end I had a perfectly clean, fresh smelling bathroom and I didn't have to inhale harmful, toxic fumes.

Ecover has been dedicated to developing and producing effective and ecological washing and cleaning products made from plant-based and mineral ingredients since 1980. They've also received awards and recognition many times for their special contributions and achievements in the field of environmentally friendly, sustainable development. Very impressive!  I want to encourage you all to visit their great blog to find out more.

Time to get excited because Ecover has offered to give one lucky reader a chance to win the Bathroom Cleaner! I really think my winner will be just as impressed with it as I am!

"Pergnancy week 6 update"

Posted by Andria at 8:11 PM 0 comments

We are now at six weeks! It's still such a crucial time in the pregnancy that I feel relief at every passing day. I'm continuing to have those moments of "Oh my gosh, I'm having a baby". I'm not sure when that will fade. Maybe never lol! Even our families are still buzzing with excitement for this new little addition. Some are already planning some sort of huge baby shower! It's such a blessing to have so much love, support and anticipation from family and friends. It humbles me every time.

Some pretty awesome developments are happening with our "baby bean" this week. The nose, mouth, eyes and ears are starting to form. Little arm and leg bugs are also developing. His/her tiny little heart is already working hard at 100-160 beats per minute and the intestine, lungs and the pituitary gland is under way.

Size of baby? Baby is about a quarter of and inch long, the size of a lentil :)

Symptoms? Still just super tired. I actually think it may be getting worse :/

Cravings? I still have all the same craving as last week but now I've added to the list. My main craving this week has been tomatoes and basil drizzled in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. YUM!

Precious moments this week? Laying in my bed and TRULY realizing that I'm a mommy to this tiny being growing inside me. it made me a little emotional...

Any weight gain? No

Baby Bump? No.

Movement? Not yet!

Still adjusting to... The fact that ALREADY, I can't do quite the same things I used to.

Changes in the home? Same as last week. Just trying to organize as much as I can for now. Also, I already have enough wipes to last almost the babies first year!

I Can't wait until... I go shopping in this weekend for new clothes!

Five Weeks Along!

Posted by Andria at 9:46 PM 2 comments

Today Marks my fifth week of pregnancy. Some people may not think it's a huge deal since it's still so early, but I've wanted this for so long and I'm grateful for every day that goes by. Every day that my tiny little baby is in the womb is another day of development for him/her and another day that I can marvel at the amazing things happening in my body! It really is awesome!

Size of baby? Right now my baby is about the size of a sesame seed!

Symptoms? The main symptoms I'm experience now are extreme fatigue (I can sleep all day if you let me), some cramping, breast tenderness, and a little trouble with the "plumbing" if you get my drift lol. Sorry, this is a pregnancy update so you're gonna hear about the good, the bad and the gross!

Cravings? A big YES to that! I've wanted nothing but subs and hummus for the past two weeks. In my defence, they've been super healthy, home-made subs with dark leafy greens, tomatoes, lots of chopped peppers, alfalfa sprouts and all that good stuff.

Precious moments this week? When DH touched my belly and kissed me but he does that a lot lately ;)

Any weight gain? Nope

Baby Bump? No. Tummy's still nice and flat (for now)

Movement? Still way to early for that

Still adjusting to... The change in my energy levels and being better about my water intake.

Changes in the home? Yes. I've been doing some "early nesting" around here in case I get slammed with months of severe morning sickness like I did with my fist pregnancy.

I Can't wait until... I start to show!

"Rockin' Green Soap Review and Giveaway" CLOSED

Posted by Andria at 3:15 PM 19 comments

Wanting to go green in the laundry room?! Allow me to introduce the next great product in my amazing giveaway line up! Rockin Green Soap is has no fillers, is dye free, phosphate free, vegan and biodegradable! I also love that you can choose the formula that works best with your water type and If you're not sure about it, they provide a map on their site that you can reference to help you choose. It's available in 3 different water types, hard, classic and soft and is also customisable with a variety of yummy scents with cute Rock n Roll names such as Motley Clean and even Bare Naked Babies!

When I received my Classic Rock in Rage Against the Raspberry, I couldn't wait to try it out. I really wanted to see how well it worked on my laundry. Especially those dingy towels and musty wash rags that never seem to freshen up even after washing with my regular detergents. You see, I decided a couple years ago that instead of buying tons of paper towels every month, we would start to use old towels and rags for kitchen cleaning and such but, my goodness do they get stinky! Traditional soap never really did the trick. I started my routine of soaking them along with regular bath towels over night in Rockin’ Green. Then I would just run the wash like normal in the morning and VIOLA!. They were stink free!

I've used my Rockin' Green Soap on clothes, linens, and other thing with great results but the fact that they got the stink out of those dingy wash rags really impressed me. Even though Rockin' Green is known for working wonders on cloth diapers, this is just one example on how it truly works great on everything!

Rockin’ Green Soap gets an A+ from me. I recommend it to anyone with cloth diapers or without and here at Lipstick & Lullabies we're going to give you a chance to win some! Rockin’ Green has generously offered to give away a bag of their detergent to one lucky reader!

The Moment Has Arrived!

Posted by Andria at 5:15 PM 9 comments
I'd like to start off this post by saying sorry it's been so long! There have been some really cool things going on that have kept me SO busy. One thing is my new found love for extreme couponing (promise I'll post about that soon) and a few other things such as birthdays, church events and so on. But lets get real here, many of you already suspect that this isn't the point of my blog post ;) so I'll get to the meat and potatoes.

This week has been one of the most life altering weeks Ive had in oh... about seven years. After seven months and six tries and the biggest roller coaster ride of emotions I have ever experienced, our dreams of welcoming another baby into our family have finally come true! I'm pregnant!!! I waited a little bit to announce it just cause, I kinda wanted it to be "our thing" for a while if that makes sense.

I truly can't find the words to express how happy we are. It still hits me and I just begin to cry. Aizlynn has been beaming with excitement and keeps jumping around saying "I'm gonna be a big sister"! She actually cried with happiness when we told her. Can you say TEAR JERKER!? We even took her out to a restaurant and made it a "Big Sister to Be" dinner in her honor. She loved it! DH and I have fallen in total "baby love". We can't stop hugging, kissing (more than we already do, hehe) holding hands and all that mushy stuff lol! It's been a high like no other.

We did announce it to our family which was AWESOME! To say that everyone is thrilled is an understatement. I feel SO blessed to have such love, support and excitement from both mine and Jeff's family. I have everything recorded by the way! All the amazing reactions and I'm planning to post the videos soon. Truth is, we've been recording everything all along. From negative tests results to the present and we'll continue to do so from here on out. I wanted the entire journey documented so I can one day show this baby all we went through and how wanted he or she was/is.

Another amazing chapter in my life has begun and we can't be any happier. Thank you to everyone who has been there to support me and encourage me throughout this TTC adventure. For our hour long phone calls and for all the prayers and babydust ;) For continuing to tell me "It WILL happen for you". You helped me get through those previous negative tests more than you know. To my amazing husband Jeffery, we did it! I love you so much and I'm honored that you're the father of my children.

Be on the lookout for updates on my pregnancy as well as tons of other great things to come on Lipstick & Lullabies, including great new posts and giveaways! Here's my first official belly pic. I know there's no cute bump yet but nevertheless, there's a baby in there! And before I sign off, let me just yell it out one more time, IM PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!
